Maintenance Supervisor
Pickering Events LLC has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Supervisor. As Maintenance Supervisor, you will lead team members in preventive maintenance and repairs on assigned equipment and facilities, including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems. You will support our small, family-owned business operating at the Riverside County Fairgrounds in Indio, home to the annual Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival.
The successful candidate will be able to perform skilled maintenance, construction, and repair work in the area of work assigned. Perform heavy manual tasks, work safely, and adhere to established safety principles and practices. Communicate effectively; establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs.
- Plans repair work using building blueprints or equipment manuals as needed.
- Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting doors, and other building fixtures.
- Lead team members by allocating time for one-on-one coaching and providing mentoring with high standards.
- Communicates with all team members to support the development of short and long-range goals and objectives.
- Oversee all applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
- Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
- Routinely inspect buildings, sites, and equipment for needed repair and respond to emergency maintenance requests as required.
- Assist the Facilities Manager in delivering services to operate and maintain the property.
- Ensures all maintenance supplies, tools, storerooms, and workspaces are kept clean, stocked, and orderly.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Assist in planning and executing preparation for events.
Skills
- Plan and organize work to meet schedules and deadlines
- Oversee and execute the hands-on maintenance duties necessary
- Monitor expenses, analyze cost variances, and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
- Works well collaboratively with others and has a team-focused mindset.
- Knowledge of general carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and repair.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 - 3 years of management or leadership experience.
- Must assist with maintenance work.
- Experience with electrical, plumbing, and carpentry a plus.
- On-the-job training offered.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Job Type: In-person, Full-time, Non-exempt (overtime eligible)
Pay: $22 - $25 - per hour depending on experience
Schedule
8-hour shift; 40 hours a week; generally Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Will require some nights and weekends for events. Weekdays will be granted off to accommodate weekend event work when possible. We request no vacation time be taken in January or February in preparation for the annual Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival.
